Am adus toate florile in casa inca de acum doua saptamani si am ramas uimita ieri, cand le-am udat, de progresul lor in casa.

I brought all the flowers into the house since 2 weeks ago and I was stunned yesterday when I saw them.

Narcisa alba a inflorit, de unde toata vara, afara, nu a facut o floare macar, Oncidium de la Cristina are o floare superba, galbena, Trifoiul roz si-a marit productia de flori, Muscatele sunt superbe, Trandafirul japonez are 2 flori!

The white Narcissus bloomed, and all summer long had zero flowers, Oncidium has a beautiful yellow flower, pick trefoil has many new flowers, Geraniums are gorgeous, Japanese rose has 2 flowers!

Am cumparat si un lampadar special pentru florile de pe scara la etaj. Pe casa scarii este multa lumina in mod obisnuit, dar cand sunt zile cu ploaie si nori, florile de acolo sunt cam in umbra. Am dus Monstera (doua bucati), un trandafir japonez si cele doua Canna.

I bought a standard lamp especially for the first floor flowers. Usually, the staircase has plenty of light, but when it is a cloudy, rainy day, the flowers are in a shadow there. I have two Monstera, Japanese Rose and two Canna.

Evident ca le-am aranjat altfel decat anul trecut, dar acum parca ar fi mai aerisite, cu toate ca sunt mai multe. :) Am reusit imposibilul, recunosc! Poate maine, cand o sa realizez fotografiile, o sa le si numar. Chiar sunt curioasa cate plante am in casa!

Of course, the set-up in the house is different from last yeat, but now looks more light, although I have more plants than last year. I made the impossible possible, I know! :) Maybe tomorrow, when I will take the pictures, I will countdown them. I am curious to know how many plants I have in my home!

Am neglijat acest blog si chiar imi pare rau, dar de cand ne-am apucat de business, de cand am inceput sa concepem retetele de sapun natural, de cand am pus la punct marca Soap Mill, de cand am inceput sa ne extindem oferta de sapunuri naturale si sa continuam cu lansarile, nu mai am timp de nimic! Si cand spun nimic, nu exagerez. Am grija de Mariuca si ma ocup de Soap Mill. Atat si nimic mai mult. Dar sper ca lucrurile sa intre pe un fagas normal incepand cu anul viitor, mai ales ca nu mai e mult pana atunci. Va mai fi nebunia de sfarsit de an, deja am semnat participarea la doua targuri, dar o sa incerc sa mai scriu si aici, pentru ca mi-e drag acest blog.

I neglected this blog and I am sorry, but I don't have anymore spare time!! Starting with our idea of business, with the original recepies of natural soap, the Soap Mill brand, a new launch after a new launch, I am taking care of Mariuca and Soap Mill activities and that's it! I am hoping that in 2010 things will change. We will have a rough time at the end of this year, with all the fairs and Christmas time, but I will try to write something new here, because I care about this blog. :)

We are preparing the www.soapmill.ro website also in English! This is for our friends abroad! And soon, we will have distribution in UK.

Dieffenbachia

Am promis ca vorbesc despre Dieffenbachia inainte de concediu si nu am mai apucat. Sunt atat de prinsa cu lansarea Soap Mill de pe 15 septembrie, incat nu am mai reusit sa scriu nimic aici sau pe BDG. Foarte rar si pe blog-ul personal. Ma veti ierta, pentru ca stiti ca ma preocupa altele momentan...

I promised that I will talk about Dieffenbachia before our vacation and I didn't had the time to do that. I am so busy with Soap Mill's launching on September 15th that I didn't write anything here or on BDG. And only a few posts on my personal blog. You will forgive for that, because you know I'm busy like a bee...


Dieffenbachia este o planta decorativa prin frunze mari, cu numeroase striuri sau pete albe sau galbene.

Dieffenbachia is a decorative plant with big leaves, a lot of striations and white/yellow spots.


Se simte excelent la temperaturi de 25-30 grade Celsius, pentru ca este o planta tropicala. Iarna nu trebuie tinuta in frig, asa ca trebuie mutata in casa.

A temperature of 25-30 Celsius degrees is great for this tropical plant. In the winter time, don't keep it outside!


In mod normal, Dieffenbachia prefera locuri luminoase, calduroase, langa ferestre. Adora apa si este indicat sa ii stropiti frunzele frecvent.

Normally, Dieffenbachia prefferes bright, warm places, near windows. Loves the water and it's better for it to wet the leaes frequently.


Se dezvolta ok in pamant aerisit si bine drenat, deoarece are cu radacini mici si multe, stranse la un loc.

The soil must be aired and drained, because has small roots and cluttered.


Planta are o tulpina cheala, din cauza pierderii frunzelor de la baza. Datorita si acestui aspect, tulpina este, de cele mai multe ori, foarte moale, si trebuie sustinuta cu araci grosi si inalti. Ca sa dezvolte o tulpina mai viguroasa, va recomand taierea varfului plantei. Eu am 3 Dieffenbachia, iar cea mai mica dintre ele trebuie sustinuta in curand. Deocamdata este proptita de geam.

The plant has a bold stalk due to dying base leaves. Because of this fact too, the stalk is soft and must be sustained with thick tall props. To develop a vigurous stalk I recommend you to cut the top of the plant. I have 3 Dieffenbachia, and the smallest must be sustained soon. Right now is leaning on the window glass.


Ca multe alte flori prezente in casele noastre, Dieffenbachia este toxica. Nu o lasati in preajma copiilor sau a animalelor de companie. Nu este periculoasa decat daca este taiata, fiindca numai sucul din tulpina este toxic. Va recomand sa folositi manusi atunci cand este cazul sa o taiati.

As many other flowers in our homes, Dieffenbachia is poisoning. Don't let it close to children or pets. It is not dangerous unless is cut, because only the juice is toxic. I recommend you to use gloves when you need to cut it.


Poate nu stiati, dar Dieffenbachia face si flori. Eu, personal, nu am vazut niciodata. Si asta pentru ca numai plantele mature fac flori. Acestea sunt albe, neinteresante, tipice familiei Aracae.

Maybe you didn't know, but Dieffenbachia has flowers. Me... personally... never saw a flower. Only mature plants have flowers. White, drab, typical for Aracae family.


Genul Dieffenbachia cuprinde aproximativ 35 de specii. Diferentele intre acestea constau in dimensiunea plantei, marimea frunzelor si modelul acestora.

Dieffenbachia type has 35 species. The differences between them are: the size of the plant, the size of the leaves and the type of the leaves.


Bolile frecvente care afecteaza aceasta planta sunt virozele si bacterioza. Daunatorii care o ataca sunt paduchii de frunze si paianjenul rosu.

Usual diseases are virosis and bacillus. The pests attacking are leaves bugs and red spider.


Va mai recomand sa ii schimbati anual pamantul, deoarece un pamant udat foarte des isi pierde din calitati. Cel mai bine este sa o mutati primavara, eventual si intr-un alt ghiveci.

I will advise you to change the soil every year. You should move it every spring in a new pot.


Acum mai multi ani, imi aduc aminte ca nu am mai avut loc si de brad, pentru ca aparusera foarte multe plante in casa (fusese foarte frig afara si tatal meu a adus in casa toate plantele de pe scara blocului). Ca atare, am pus o Dieffenbachia pe o masa si am impodobit-o ca un pom de Craciun. A fost superb! O sa-mi aduc aminte de fiecare data cu placere de acele sarbatori de iarna. Iubesc aceasta planta!

Several years ago, I remember that we didn't have the space for a Christmas tree. All the plants in front of our apartment were in our home because it was very cold outside that year. So, we put a Dieffenbachia on a table and we decorate it like a Christmas tree. It was beautiful! I will remember that winter holidays my whole life! I love this plant!

Kalanchoe

Aceste 2 Kalanchoe, alba si roz, le-am cumparat acum cateva saptamani din Hornbach. Imi plac Kalanchoe-le, mai am una rosie, iar anul trecut am avut alte trei, care, din pacate, nu au rezistat peste iarna.

I bought these two Kalanchoe, white and pink, a few weeks ago from Hornbach. I like Kalanchoes, I have another one red, and last year I had three who died.

Sunt flori suculente, carora le place lumina, chiar soarele direct, nu au nevoie de multa apa sau de spatiu. Nu cresc mult in inaltime, daca aveti noroc ajung pe la 20-25 cm. fara flori si pe la 30 cm. cu tot cu flori.

These are juicy flowers, likes the light, even direct sun, don't need too much water or space. There are not so tall, with luck can reach 20-25 cm. without flowers and 30 cm. with flowers.

Provine de pe continentul african si din Madagascar. In Europa e des intalnita, mai rar se gaseste in America sau Asia.

It came from Africa and Madagascar. In Europe is a common flower, in America and Asia is not so common.

Daca veti citi pe anumite site-uri despre Kalanchoe, inclusiv pe blog-uri, veti afla ca acestei plante ii place solitudinea. Normal, din moment ce toti copiaza unul de la altul!!! Nu, nu este neaparat adevarat. Evident, sunt foarte multe plante carora le place sa fie singure in ghiveci, dar asta nu este o regula. Daca vreti sa faceti un mix de flori, Kalanchoe este ideala pentru acest lucru. Dar trebuie sa tineti cont sa o "asociati" cu alte plante suculente, ca sa fiti siguri ca nu omorati vreuna dintre ele. O alegere foarte buna este Crassula, mai ales ca fac parte din aceeasi familie, Crassulaceae. Am avut si Crassula, dar pe vremea aceea nu stiam atat de multe despre plante si am omorat-o, punandu-i multa apa.

If you will read on some sites about Kalanchoe, including blogs, you will find out that this flower loves solitude. Of course, since they are copy-pasting from one to another!!!! No, it's not necessarily true. Of course, there are a lot of plants who loves to be alone in the pot, but this is not a rule. If you want to make a mix pot, Kalanchoe is an ideal plant to do this. But you have to "associate" it with other juicy plants, to be certain that you will not kill them. A very good choice is Crassula, especially they are part of the same family, Crassulaceae. I had a Crassula also, but back then I didn't know so much about plants and I killed it with too much water.

O alta informatie preluata gresit pe site-uri: veti afla ca sunt 130 specii de Kalanchoe. Si 180 specii. Chiar si 200!!! In realitate, exista aproximativ 120 specii de Kalanchoe, cele din Madagascar pot ajunge si pana la 6 metri inaltime. In 1763, botanistul francez Michel Adanson a descris pentru prima oara aceasta floare. El a stat in Senegal timp de 5 ani si cand s-a intors la Paris, dupa numeroase cercetari si descoperiri in Africa, a publicat cartea "Familles naturelles des plantes", in care a descris cele 58 familii de plante pe care le-a diferentiat, precum si multe alte informatii.

Another wrong information: on some sites you will find out that there are 130 Kalanchoe species. And 180 species. Even 200 species!! In reality, there are aprox. 120 species, the ones in Madagascar can reach 6 m. height. In 1763, french botanist MIchel Adanson described for the first time this flower. He was in Senegal for 5 years and after his return in Paris he published the book "Familles naturelles des plantes". He conducted a lot of researches and made a lot of discoveries and he described 58 families of plants and other useful information.

Ziceam ca mie mi-au murit 3. Mda... pentru ca pot fi atacate foarte usor de cosenile si purici. Am luat un spray anti-cosenile, dar prea tarziu, se pare. Mare atentie, exista spray-uri chimice si altele pe baza de plante. Va sfatuiesc sa le alegeti pe cele naturale, in primul rand pentru planta. Dar nu ar strica sa va paziti si voi sau animalele de casa!

I told you that I lost three Kalanachoe. Yeah... because they were atacked by fleas and other bugs. I bought a spray but too late. Be careful, there are chimical based sprays and plant based. I advise you to chose the natural ones, to protect the plant. But it's good also for the pets!

Savory - Cimbrul

Stiu ca v-am lipsit, ca v-a fost dor de mine si ca nu am mai scris de ceva vreme un post. Asta pentru ca m-am ocupat strict de proiectul Bride Parade, care mi-a ocupat tot spatiul psihic si fizic pe care il aveam, hehe!

I know you missed me and I know that I didn't wrote a post for sometime. That's because I was exclusively involved in Bride Parade project, physically and emotionally.

Revin in forta si vreau sa va vorbesc despre cimbru. Am primit acum vreo 3 saptamani un cimbru salbatic, aduc tocmai din Grecia, dintr-o insula. Din pacate, la momentul la care scriu acest post, cred ca nu il mai pot resuscita. Dani il uda constant, dar ramurelele verzi pe care le puteti observa in fotografii nu mai sunt de mult timp verzi.

I am back and I want to talk about savory. 3 weeks ago I received a wild savory, brought all away from Greece, from an island. Unfortunately, as I write this post, I think I can not bring it to life. Dani wet it constantly, but the green leaves as seen in the pictures are no longer green.

Imi pare rau, pentru ca cimbrul este o planta extraordinara. Evident, venita din tarile mediteraneene, ca Grecia, Italia. Ii place mult soarele si adora stancile si formatiunile stancoase. Al meu a fost smuls de pe o piatra si puteti vedea in fotografii, are o forma ciudata, sa se apere de vant si ploaie.

I am sorry because the savory is an extraordinary plant. Of course, from mediteranean countries, like Greece or Italy. Loves the sun and the rocks. Mine was taken from a rock and, you can see in the pictures, has a funny and odd shape, to protect itself from rain and wind.

Este o planta aromatica, cu un miros aparte si are efecte curative si terapeutice. In Romania a ajuns pe undeva prin secolul 11 si a fost foarte apreciat. Specia comuna atinge cam 50 cm inaltime, celelalte ating maxim 30 cm. Seamana cu rozmarinul si levantica, dar nu le poti confunda datorita mirosului.

It is an aromatic plant, with a particular smell and has therapeutical effects. Around 11 century came to Romania and it was well appreciated. The common species can reach 50 cm height, the other reach maximum 30 cm. It looks like lavender and rosemary, but you can not mixed them up because of the smell.

Femeile care au copii, cred ca stiu ca bunicile le recomandau ceai de cimbru, pentru a naste mai repede.

Women with children know that the grandmothers recommend savory tea for earlier and faster birth.

Pe vremuri, in Evul Mediu, se numea lamaita si se folosea foarte des in manastiri. Chiar si acum, in zilele noastre, culturi importante de cimbru se pot gasi la manastirile din Moldova. In Europa, doar Romania si Elvetia cultiva aceasta planta. In restul tarilor, de la Portugalia pana in Grecia, el creste spontan.

In Middle Ages, the name was aloysia and it was used in monasteries. Even nowdays, Moldavian monasteries have large crops of savory. In Europe, only Romania and Switzerland have savory crops. The other countries, like Portugal or Greece, have spontaneous crops.

Cimbrul nu este recomandat in perioadele caniculare, pentru ca accentueaza starea de caldura insuportabila.

The savory it is not recommend it in canicular times, because emphasises the unbearable heat.

Numele din engleza a fost influentat de un alt cuvant din engleza, savoury, care inseamna picant. Cimbrul poate fi folosit cu succes ca inlocuitor de piper, pentru cei cu intoleranta la acest condiment.

The name in English was influenced by an English adjective, savoury. The savory can be used succesfully as piper substitute, for those with intolerance to piper.

Se foloseste in special la preparatele din legume, ciorbe, salate sau chiar ciuperci, pentru ca ajuta foarte mult digestia. In mod normal, el trebuie adaugat chiar la inceputul prepararii legumelor, pentru ca prin procesare indelungata, isi pierde din proprietati.

It is used especially in vegetables meals, sour soups, salads or even mushrooms, because helps the digestion. Normally, you have to add it at the beginning of the cooking, because through a long processing looses the qualities.

Nu am cunostinte despre utilizarea cimbrului in SUA, dar poate ne ajuta prietenele mele de peste ocean.

I don't have any information about the savory usage in USA, but maybe my friends from the other part of the ocean can help me.

Another 5 plants in our garden! Inca 5 plante in gradina noastra!

Oooooo, da! Ieri suna interfonul, pe la 6, cred. "Sunt domnul cu plantele, am mai adus un pin superb, va intereseaza?" Raspuns: "sotul meu trebuie sa ajunga cam in 10-15 minute, puteti sa asteptati sau sa reveniti peste 30 minute?". "Aaaa, nu, il asteptam, nu e nicio problema!"

Ooooooo, yes! Yesterday, somebody call me on the interphone, around 6, I think. "I am the man with the plants, I brought another gorgeous pine, are you interested?" Answer: "my husband will be here in 10-15 minutes, can you wait or can you come back in 30 minutes?". "Aaaaa, no, it's ok, we'll wait for him, it's not a problem!"

Evident ca asteptau, ca doar cati clienti sunt dispusi sa investeasca niste bani inainte de Paste? Hehehe... poate doar Dani.

Of course they will wait, how many clients are willing to invest some money before Easter? Hehehe... maybe only Dani.

Concluzia? Inca 4 Thuja in gradina noastra si un pin superb! Inca nu am facut fotografii, dar daca nu reusesc astazi, sigur maine le veti vedea si pe acestea!

The conclusion? Another 4 Thuja in our garden and a gorgeous pine! I dont't have any pictures right now, but if I will not make some today, tomorrow for sure you will see them!

Ca atare, oamenii incoace si incolo, unii la cumparaturi, altii fac curatenie, unii gatesc, altii isi fac bagajele pentru mini-vacanta, nooooooi, nuuuuuu, noi plantam copaci!!!! Iupiiiiiii, cine mai e ca noi???

So, people are here and there, some to shopping, others with cleaning, some are cooking, others make the luggage for the mini-vacation, weeeeeeeeeee, noooooooo, we are planting trees!!!! Iupiiiiii, who is like us?

Dupa cum spun deseori, la noi ca la nebuni!!! Tot timpul! Dar e fun, traiesti viata la maxim si te bucuri de fiecare clipa! Voi ce ziceti?

As I say very often, we are like in a madhouse!!! All the time! But it's fun, we are living life to the maximum and enjoying every minute of it! What do you say about that?

Whom can you call a real gardener? Ce inseamna sa fii gradinar adevarat?

Voi ma stiti... si daca nu ma stiti, ma puteti cunoaste pe Creata la Patrat. Dupa cum am scris si in antet, sunt o tipa amuzanta, haioasa, cinica, libera, corecta si lista poate continua cu inca o multime de alte asemenea.

Am tot stat si m-am gandit daca sa scriu acest post sau nu... Nooo, nu va agitati, ca n-am gandit mult!

I sat and thought if I should write this post or not... Noooo, don't get excited, I didn't thought too much!

Ce inseamna sa fii gradinar adevarat? O persoana care are gradina de legume este mai "sus" decat una care are doar o gradina cu plante si flori? Daca ai pomi fructiferi in curte te poti considera un gradinar mai de soi? Daca ai gradina si altii au doar o mica "sera" in apartament, te crezi mai destept?

Whom can you call a "true and real gardener"? A person who has a vegetables garden is "higher" than a person who has only plants and flowers? If you have fruit trees in the yard you can call yourself a better gardener? If you have a large garden and others only have a little garden in the apartment, do you think you're smarter?

Hmmm... dileme... pentru unii! Pentru mine este foarte clar! Gradinaritul este o pasiune frumoasa si care iti aduce multe satisfactii. Daca ai plante si flori in apartament, pomi sau arbusti in curte, tot gradinar te numesti!! Ca sa fiu putin (sau mai mult, voi decideti) cinica, voi da trei explicatii din dex.

Hmmm... dilemas... for some people! For me it's clear! The gardening is a beautiful passion, which brings you many satisfactions. If you have plants and flowers in your apartment, trees or shrubs in the garden, you can call yourself a gardener! To be a little bit (or more, you decide), cynical, I will give three explanations from the dictionary.

Gradinar - persoana care se ocupa de cultivarea unei gradini
Gradina - suprafata de teren arabil, de obicei ingradita, pe care se cultiva legume, flori sau pomi fructiferi, in vederea obtinerii unor produse.
Cinic - care denota sfidare; sarcastic, sfidator, insolent, nerusinat.

Gardener - a person who cultivates a garden
Garden - an arable land, usually with fence around it, where you can grow vegetables, flowers or fruit trees, in order to obtain products.
Cynical - indicates contempt; sarcastic, insolent, shameless.

Aceasta dorinta de frumos, aceasta dovada de iubire de natura, aceasta pasiune, dupa cum spuneam mai sus, trebuie sa uneasca oamenii si sa ii innobileze. Dupa parerea mea, avem parte de competitii toata viata noastra. Daca ne referim strict la subiectul gradinarit, competitia nu isi are locul. Adica, da, te uiti, afli, intrebi, ai vrea, ai prioritati, te inspiri, muncesti, dar totul trebuie sa ramana in spiritul unei competitii pozitive, daca imi permiteti licenta. Asa vad eu lucrurile! Daca participi la competitii cu lalele galbene, nu poti sa nu admiri concurentul care a inventat o lalea in picatele portocalii cu dungi albastre!

Din pacate, intotdeauna vom gasi persoane pe care pasiunea declarata cu voce tare peste tot nu ii innobileaza!

This desire for beauty, this evidence for nature love, this passion, as I said earlier, should bring people close to each other and should ennoble them. In my opinion, we participate in competitions entire our lifes. If we are narrowing to the gardening, the competition is out of order. I mean, yes, you are looking, find out, asking, wishing, have priorities, inspiring, working, but everything should stay in the spirit of positive competition, if you are allowing me to use this license. That's how I see things! If you are participating in a competition with yellow tulips, you can't stop yourself to admire the contestant who invented the tulip with orange dots and blue stripes!

Unfortunately, we will always see people who declares their passion out loud, but this passion don't ennoble them!

Trebuie sa imi pun ceapa si morcovi in gradina ca sa ma ridic la nivelul celorlalti gradinari???? Sau sa trec la chestii "grele", gen broccoli, fasole roz si cartofi mov?????

Should I plant onion and carrots in the garden to rise up to other gardener's level? Or should I plant "hard" stuff, like broccoli, pink beans or purple potatoes?

Neaaaaah, raman la ce stiu mai bine, la ce imi place sa ingrijesc, la gradina mea, ca un adevarat GRADINAR ce ma aflu!

Neaaah, I stick to what I know best, to what I love to care, to my garden, like a real GARDENER!

A doua fotografie, aproape toata gradina noastra, de la casa parintilor mei pana la casa noastra, avand foisorul in mijloc, magazia in dreapta sus si, nu se vede, in dreapta jos, padocul Dochitei, ciobanescul nostru carpatin. In stanga, unde este nisip acum, a fost terenul meu pentru jocuri outdoor, anul acesta va fi transformat in loc de joaca pentru Mariuca si prietenii ei.

Nu arata perfect, mai este mult de munca, trebuie sa replantam gazonul, sa facem curatenie in foisor, sa scoatem tot pavajul din fata casei si sa punem bordurile care sunt langa magazie, sa curatam fiecare copac si planta in parte, sa..., sa... lista ramane deschisa!

In incheiere, o sa va bucur ochii cu o fotografie a unei flori superbe, un alt tip de magnolia, pe care o au parintii mei in gradina.

Sambata, o parte din gradina noastra s-a schimbat complet! Adica, Dani a cumparat 7 Thuja, 2 pini gen Jenupar, pitici, si a primit gratis 2 salcii crete. A muncit toata ziua sa le planteze, a plecat apoi si a cumparat 4 pietre mari, iar rezultatul il vedeti mai jos:

Saturday, a part of our garden changed completely! Dani bought 7 Thuja, 2 pines (resembles with Jenupar), small, and received 2 free curly willows. He worked all day to plant them, bought also 4 big stones, and you can see the result below:
